Jackson Hospital receives extension on deadline for restructuring

Jackson Hospital and Clinic in Montgomery has received an extension on the deadline to gather enough funding for a restructuring plan to avoid closing due to its ongoing bankruptcy issues. 

According to WSFA, a judge granted the hospital permission to continue seeking funds until the end of January 2026. The previous deadline was Dec. 31. 

In the meantime, the hospital has sued Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama for allegedly failing to pay reimbursement rates. 

An estimated $200 million in commitments has reportedly been secured in the effort to keep Jackson Hospital open.
