The Board of Directors at Jackson Hospital have set a date to begin closing if a deal is not reached with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) of Alabama to provide funding.Â
WSFA reports that the board passed a resolution to schedule June 25 as the deadline for BCBS to increase reimbursement rates that could help the hospital stay afloat.Â
The hospital is in litigation with BCBS over a claim that $1.4 million is being withheld, which the insurance company denies.Â
If it is decided to close, the process will begin on July 1, though it could start earlier.Â
The state has reportedly pledged $40 million for capitol expenses but with the stipulation that the hospital has to come out of bankruptcy.Â
