Do not cross II

Montgomery police are investigating after a juvenile was severely injured during a shooting on Wednesday.

A $5,000 reward is being offered by Central Alabama CrimeStoppers for information, said Montgomery Police Department (MPD) Chief James Graboys at a press conference.

"That being said, this type of offense touches everyone in the department deeply," he said. "It cuts to us because this is literally responsible or literally related to anything related to an innocent victim. A young victim."

According to authorities officers with the MPD responded at approximately 12:30 a.m. to the 3200 block of Raintree Drive in reference to a shooting.

A building in the area was struck with gunfire, which resulted in the juvenile's injury. A red Nissan Altima was reportedly seen in the area at the time.

"To the criminals to committed this senseless and heinous act: your actions harmed an innocent child," Graboys said. "I will not hide my anger at this. And it translates to the people who work with me. Turn yourself in before things get worse for you because the (MPD) and our local, state and federal departments will not tolerate or accept it. We will find you and hold you accountable to the fullest extent of the law."

He later added that he did not believe the shooting was indiscriminate because it was "not a random event."

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Montgomery Police Department at 334-241-2651 or the department’s investigations division at 334-625-2831 or 334-625-2843.
