The Calhoun School and Central High School in Lowndes County recently celebrated their newly renovated weight rooms thanks to a $150,000 grant that was given to them in 2023.Â
According to The Lowndes Signal, the funding came from a community service grant by Sen. Robert Stewart.Â
The grant was announced in August 2023 and the schools received it in October. A plan was then formed to begin the renovations.Â
The upgraded weight rooms will be an improvement to the athletic programs of the schools and give student-athletes an edge in competitions.Â
