Legal Services Alabama (LSA) will host a clinic for expungements, warrants, and voting rights restoration in Wilcox County on Aug. 12.Â
With support from the Black Belt Community Foundation (BBCF) attorneys from LSA will provide free expungements to attendees who are eligible and have "certain" misdemeanor charges.
"Expungements are an especially important offering as even minor criminal records can impact a person’s ability to find stable, quality housing and gainful employment," said a press release from LSA on Friday.
"Qualified participants will be able to start the expungement process with an LSA attorney at the clinic. Eligible attendees can also address and rectify outstanding traffic tickets and warrants without the risk of arrest. Voting rights are also affected by a criminal record and those eligible can begin the process of restoring their voting rights."
The clinic will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. at the Wilcox County Courthouse Annex on 12 Water Street in Camden.Â
