A man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly traveled from California to defraud an elderly Montgomery resident. 

According to WSFA, Kuan Tsou, of Diamond Bar, 30, and another, unidentified suspect are accused of attempting to deceive the resident into thinking that they owed more than $300,000 for investing in a fraudulent platform. 

On Aug. 22 Tsou was arrested and charged with aggravated theft by deception when he arrived in Alabama to collect the money from the victim.

He was placed at the Montgomery County Jail on a $1 million bond. 

The investigation was conducted by the Alabama Securities Commission.
