Gov. Kay Ivey has proclaimed March 2 to be a Day of Prayer for Ukraine.

Support for Ukraine mounts throughout the nation and around the world as the Russian Federation continues its invasion of Ukrainian territory.

The actions taken by Russia under the administration of Vladimir Putin have been condemned by many, resulting in Ivey calling for a day of prayer.

“Alabama stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine as they fight to protect their country and democracy," she said. "Alabamians are deeply rooted in their faith, and as many Christians observe Ash Wednesday, I urge our citizens to pray for peace in Ukraine.”
