Demopolis High won $5,000 in a T-Mobile competition. The Demopolis T-Mobile manager Bob Yachte and assistant manager Logan Smith gave the check before Friday's game.

Demopolis High School won $5,000 from T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights competition that gives funds to rural community schools.

Demopolis advances to the next stage where they could win $25,000 and advance to win the grand prize of $1 million for a football field upgrade, consult with stadium experience expert a weight room update by Gronk Fitness and more.

T-Mobile Demopolis store manager Bob Yachte and assistant manager Logan Smith presented the $5,000 check to Superintendent Adam Pugh and Demopolis High Principal Frederick Franklin and other officials before the game on Friday.

As part of Friday Night 5G Lights competition, 450 schools including Demopolis won $5,000 as part of the $5K Fridays sweepstakes.

Demopolis competes with 25 schools to be selected as a top finalist and win $25,000 and a T-Mobile magenta home game. The top 25 will compete for the $1 million grand prize.

Voting takes place on social media and ends Oct. 24.

Friday Night 5G Lights sweepstakes has supported small communities since 2021 and is connected with expansion of offering T-Mobile 5G Home Internet. T-Mobile also invested $18 million in small communities nationwide through hometown grants. 

Last year’s Friday Night 5G Lights had 1,750 entries in 50 states. Then, 300 schools won $5,000,16 schools won $25,000 and the grand prize went to Inola High in Oklahoma.
