A Monroe County man was sentenced to 235 months in prison for two counts of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
A statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office for Southern District of Alabama said that Charles Brian Stabler, 47, was convicted in July and sentenced on Dec. 1.Â
The statement said that Stabler was stopped on Jan. 29 in 2019 by police in Monroeville. Officers discovered four packages of methamphetamine in the car.Â
In August of 2021 officers executed a search warrant and found almost nine ounces of methamphetamine. The statement said that evidence was found of him distributing the drugs.Â
Stabler was on supervised release for a previous conviction of being a felon in possession of a firearm when the search was executed.Â
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case with assistance by members of the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) and the ATF.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Tandice Blackwood and George May.
