Big Lots stock

491 jobs will be lost after the Big Lots distribution center in Montgomery closes. 

According to WAKA, the Big Lots corporation filed for bankruptcy following a period of financial challenges. A number of stores have been closed as a result. 

A layoff announcement was posted by the Alabama Department of Commerce on Dec. 24. 

While the distribution center is set to close there is no indication yet as to whether or not the Montgomery store location will also close. 

The distribution center is located on U.S. Highway 80.
