The Montgomery Clean City Commission (MCCC) has kicked off its "Capital Blooms" initiative to plant 25,000 daffodil bulbs in public spaces across the city.
Neighborhood associations, churches, nonprofits, and other community organizations are invited to apply for free daffodil bulbs by Sept. 30 and take part in the project.
“Capital Blooms is about loving our city—literally planting seeds of pride and beauty in the places we all share,” said Al Grove, Chairman of MCCC. “Research shows that when a space is cared for and visually appealing, people are far less likely to litter. Beautification encourages respect, and respect leads to cleaner, safer, and more vibrant communities.”
Planting will begin in November. The plants are expected to bloom every spring.
