Montgomery County District Attorney Azzie M. Oliver is warning the public about a scam that requests payment for overdue toll charges.

These scams are sent via text with links to make payments. But clicking the links may lead to scammers gaining information about your drivers license or bank account, and might result in identity theft.

Oliver advises following these tips:

  • Don't click on any links if you receive a text
  • Search for contact information on the tolling agency's website to verify the text
  • Don't reply to info in the text
  • To report unwanted texts use the "Report Junk" option
