Montgomery DA announces arrests made in 3 cold case murders

Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey recently held a press conference in which he announced that multiple suspects have been arrested in three cold case murders, with one dating back to 1980. 

In his announcement, Bailey said that John Imer has been charged in the murder of John Bogle in 1980. Bogle was beaten and stabbed to death in his residence on Carmichael Road. 

Irmer is being held in Boston, Mass. and is facing a charge of capital murder. 

Darrell Moorer has been charged with capital murder for the shooting death of Jamie Lightsey on the 2700 block of Argyle Road in 2015. Moorer is being held in the Montgomery County Detention Facility without bond.

Two suspects have been charged in the death of Steven White Jr. in 2018. Kennedy Wilson and Lonnie Helms, III, now face charges of capital murder and second-degree assault. Wilson is currently being held in Bibb County, while Helms is being held in the Montgomery County Detention Facility, said Bailey.

Bailey credited the Montgomery County Cold Case Task Force with solving the crimes along with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and the Montgomery Police Department. 

He also named Montgomery DA’s Investigator Antony Shannon and Deputy DA Marianalyn Dennis, as well as Task Force Investigator Capt. Robert Whitmore of the Sherriff’s Office, Montgomery Police Department’s Homicide and Crime Scene Unit and the United States Marshals Service.

“I am very proud of the work of the Cold Case Task Force. Due to the unit’s hard work, three murders have been solved and these victims’ families now will be able to see justice in a courtroom," Bailey said.
