The Montgomery Interpretive Center will celebrate the 116th anniversary of the founding of the NAACP on Wednesday, Feb. 12.

Standing for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the NAACP was founded in 1909 to counter civil rights injustices and violence toward black citizens.

The anniversary celebration will feature music and educational presentations.

It will be held at 12 p.m. at the Montgomery Interpretive Center's location on 1521 Harris Way.
