Montgomery man sentenced to 25 years for series of armed robberies

A 21-year-old man from Montgomery has been sentenced to 25 years in a federal prison for his role in a string of armed robberies, said a statement from U.S. Attorney Thomas Govan and Special Agent in Charge Christopher R. Flowers. 

Najari Denarka Mitchell, of Montgomery, had been convicted for robberies along with a co-defendant in 2025. 

“Mr. Mitchell participated in multiple armed robberies that terrorized employees and customers and put innocent people at risk,” said Govan. “His 25-year federal sentence reflects the seriousness of his conduct and should serve as a warning to others who choose to use firearms to commit violent crimes.”

According to court records cited by the statement Mitchell was behind four robberies at a cell phone store and three gas stations in Montgomery between June 5 and July 28, 2025.

Afterwards he reportedly partnered with co-defendant Rayshon Frances Demonta Hall for three others between Aug. 1 and Aug. 4.

The first was a fast-food restaurant on Troy Highway while threatening an employee with a gun. The second was an auto parts store on Fairview Avenue, with the final being a gas station on Troy Highway.

After the pair was arrested they were convicted of various robbery charges and brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a federal crime of violence. Hall will be sentenced on Sept. 9.
