A mentorship program in Montgomery is open to local students after receiving a grant from the RC&D Council.

The Helping Montgomery Families Initiative (HMFI) is a program being promoted by Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey and supervised by HMFI case manager Joe Cameron.

It is aimed at providing mentors for students, particularly those in high school and middle school. Mentors will work with youths through academic assistance and emotional encouragement.

The program also seeks to manage behavioral issues and prevent youths from entering the juvenile justice system, said a recent announcement from Bailey.

See here for more information and how to enter a student.
