The Fairview Farmers Market in West Montgomery will undergo a renovation, said an announcement from city officials on Monday.

“The farmers market is important because it brings about fresh food options for residents who don’t have some of the opportunities for the type of food and the type of wellness that we’d like to see them have here in the city,” Mayor Steven Reed said.

The space on 60 Fairview Avenue is said to be a historic part of the city. The renovation is expected to take 18 months.

"Over the next 18 months, we’re going to get to watch as Fairview is truly transformed into a viable commercial corridor which this area desperately needs,” said City Councilor Andrew Szymanski.

Partners in the project include DuBose Construction Company and Goodwyn Mills Cawood.
