Two Montgomery students won the Alabama Department of Public Health's (ADPH) “Share Your Smile with Alabama” photo contest for third graders.

Denia Washington from Martin Luther King, Jr., Elementary School in Montgomery and Chase Johnson from Brewbaker Intermediate School, also in Montgomery, were the winners.

The two will be featured on ADPH's campaign to promote oral health among children in Alabama. The theme for this year is “Healthy Habits for Healthy Smiles.”

“We sponsor this annual contest to bring attention to children’s oral health care and to remind everyone of the need to brush and floss their teeth daily," said State Dental Health Director Dr. Tommy Johnson. "We also want to encourage community water fluoridation and promote the FDA-approved HPV vaccine for children beginning at 9 years of age.”
