On July 18 Perry County Commission Chairman Albert Turner Jr. announced the paving of Albert Turner-Jimmie Lee Jackson Memorial Highway and has provided more information about the project.

The project is set begin tomorrow on July 21 and is expected to continue for 21 days with weather permitting.

According to a recent announcement from Turner the funding is coming from $5.4 billion in the Federal Infrastructure Act given to Rebuild Alabama program. The county is also providing funding.

In his announcement Turner said that the northern section of the highway was in "good shape". New line stripes and reflectors were installed on the northern section going to the Marion city limits.

The southern portion is in need of "desperate" repairs, Turner said. This extends from the intersection of County Road 6 to the Dallas County line.

Additionally, plans are in place for highway repairs on County Road 6, Spring Hill Church Road, Apostolic Way, Dobynes Road, turn lanes off of Alabama 5 and 183 onto County Road 12. These are in the 2022-2023 road plan, though it's possible that they may not be completed this season, Turner said.
