An astronaut has shared quirky scenes from space of the crew undressed.

NASA's Jessica Meir revealed images of herself and colleague Jack Hathaway on the International Space Station with their tops off.

The pair were undergoing medical examinations using the latest AI techniques to check on their organs.

Meir said: "Last week, Sophie Adenot, Jack Hathaway and I took turns imaging each other's internal organs for the CNES EchoFinder-2 experiment.

"This experiment aims to use augmented reality and artificial intelligence to allow astronauts without medical or ultrasound expertise to perform scans without any support from Earth.

"This type of technology could prove invaluable for remote medical monitoring scenarios both on Earth and for NASA Artemis missions to the Moon and Mars."

The scenes, which also featured Jack Hathaway's eye-catching NASA belt, drew comments on social media.

EndeavourInspired wrote: "Jack Hathaway wins the award for best belt buckle in space and having a killer mustache."

Quarter20Everything added: "Ummm, can we take a sec and acknowledge that epic belt buckle."

Dipanjana Maulik posted: "Astronauts are taking medical science to a completely new dimensions."

Elsewhere, Zemetrius noted a "bikini on ISS", while SnootiestB simply commented "Shirts off".

Meir and Hathaway arrived at the ISS on February 14 and are scheduled to depart on Monday, ending an almost eight-month mission.
