Dog lost for three weeks on mountain rescued

A dog missing for nearly three weeks on a mountain in the Lake District has been rescued.

Teddy vanished on Aug. 2 after disappearing on Helvellyn — the third-highest peak in England.

On Aug. 21 volunteers were out searching for him when they heard barking coming from Dry Gill, a steep ravine on the slopes of the mountain.

Volunteers were able to find Teddy but he was stuck so the Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was called to help.

Three hours later Teddy was rescued and miraculously had no obvious injuries, though had lost a considerable amount of weight.

He was secured in a rucksack and given a small amount of food before being reunited with his owner and taken to the vet.

The rescue took three and a half hours and seven team members.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team said: "The team are absolutely delighted to share this update, as the news of this missing dog had deeply affected so many people across our local community.

"He was given a small amount of food before being safely secured in a rucksack for the journey back down to Swirls car park.

"A remarkable outcome after nearly three weeks on Helvellyn, and a huge well done to everyone who kept searching and never gave up on Teddy."
