Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks was suspended for one game by the NBA after receiving his 16th technical foul of the regular season

Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks was suspended one game without pay by the NBA on Thursday after being whistled for his 16th technical foul of the season.

NBA rules deliver an automatic suspension to any player or coach once he receives a 16th technical foul during any regular season.

Brooks received his 16th technical foul with 6:37 to play in the second quarter of Wednesday's 136-109 Oklahoma City victory over Phoenix.

Brooks will serve his ban on February 19 when the Suns visit San Antonio.

Every two additional technical fouls for the remainder of the season will bring Brooks another one-game suspension without pay.

The 30-year-old Canadian, obtained from Houston last July in the trade that sent Kevin Durant to the Rockets, is averaging 21.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists a game.

The Suns are 32-23, seventh in the Western Conference and one game behind the Los Angeles Lakers for the last guaranteed West playoff berth.
