On Dec. 13 at 9:30 a.m., a ribbon cutting will be held at the new Black Belt Workforce Center, a hub located in Demopolis dedicated to helping the public with finding employment.

The center will be opened by West Alabama Works in partnership with SAWDC Alabama Works and Central Alabama Works. Tammi Holley will serve as the center’s coordinator.

“We knew that we needed to serve some of our most critical areas in Alabama by creating a center in the Black Belt,” said Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama Chief Operating Officer and West Alabama Works Executive Director Donny Jones. “This is a place for both job hunters and employers to find resources to help them succeed.”

Black Belt Workforce Center will serve as a job development location where people can learn about writing and submitting resumes, as well as receive job training.

The center also has a computer lab and houses CareerConnect, a job application software that has almost 17,000 applicants registered.

Community supporters and public officials are invited to attend the ribbon cutting at the center, located at 1048 Bailey Drive in Demopolis.
