A new website that provides information on parole hearings and changes in the status of inmates will be unveiled during a press conference at 11 a.m.Â
The Alabama Victim Notification Implementation Task Force has been overseeing the development of an "automated Victim Notification System" or VNS enacted in previous years by the state legislature.Â
The website allows victims of crime to update their contact information and how to receive notices via text, email or U.S. mail. The site provides information on parole and pardon hearings, as well an inmates' participation in work release, furlough, leave, or Mandatory Supervised Release.
The site underwent a "soft launch" during early March in which almost 2,000 have signed up, said a press release.Â
The website can be accessed at victims.alabama.gov.
