An officer at the Montgomery Fire/Rescue (MFR) became the first female in more than 24 years to be promoted at the department.Â
Ebony Jones made it to the rank of Lieutenant on Thursday, said an announcement from MFR. She is also the first black officer in the department's history.Â
The announcement stated that she is following in her father's footsteps as part of MFR.Â
"This milestone reflects years of hard work, dedication, leadership, and commitment to serving the citizens of Montgomery," it said.
"We could not be more proud of Lieutenant Ebony Jones, and we look forward to watching her continue to lead, serve, and grow in her career with Montgomery Fire/Rescue."
