Penelope House, an agency serving domestic violence abuse victims in Clarke and Choctaw counties, is one of others to benefit from another round of grants from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA).
“These nonprofit groups are vital resources for the communities they serve, offering safe shelter and an opportunity to heal,” said Gov. Kay Ivey in an online announcement. “I commend them for giving hope to victims of these terrible crimes.”
ADECA awarded close to $329,000 in total. Penelope House joins the Family Counseling Center of Mobile and Baldwin Family Violence Center in being awarded funding.
Penelope House receives $151,720 for emergency shelter and comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence and their children. In addition to Choctaw and Clarke they serve Mobile and Washington counties.
“The services these organizations provide are beneficial not only to victims, but the community at large,” ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said. “ADECA joins Gov. Ivey in support of these agencies in their mission to improve the lives of victims and their families.”
