The sheriff's offices of Pike and Coffee counties have been provided with technology to keep track of sex offenders and stay in compliance with the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA), and an announcement from 12th Circuit District Attorney James Tarbox.
The announcement stated that sex offender registration and notification is a "growing concern" along with recidivism. The sheriff's offices of Pike and Coffee will receive a computer with a large monitor, iPad and desktop scanner.Â
The technology was provided by the Association and Office of Prosecution Services after receiving a grant from the United States Department of Justice.Â
"I am grateful to the [AOPS] for helping provide these resources to local law enforcement" said Tarbox. "As the father of a young daughter, ensuring that our community's children are protected from sexual offenders and predators is one of my top priorities. This technology will help our local agencies continue their mission of protecting the residents of Pike and Coffee counties."Â
