A woman from Troy has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the murder of a man during an armed robbery in 2021.

According to announcements from Pike County Sheriff's Office and 12th Circuit District Attorney James Tarbox, Raven Brassell pleaded guilty to the murder of Cordero Ousley on Monday.

A statement from the sheriff's office said that in 2021 officers responded to Floyd Street in Brundidge where Ousley was found. During the investigation officers were able take Brassell and an unnamed codefendant into custody within 48 hours.

"Earlier this year Brasell's codefendant was sentenced to 35 years in this case and with today's sentencing closure has finally been brought to the victim's family," said the statement.
