The Riverfront PINK POWER Rock Fest at the next Levitt AMP Selma Music Series concert on Oct. 11 will raise awareness about breast cancer. Â
The show will feature Toia Jones from Montgomery and the rock/soul band the Seratones from Shreveport, LA. Jones was featured on the music competition show, The Voice.
Attendees are encouraged to wear pink to honor those who have lost their lives to breast cancer and to encourage early detection, said a press release for the event.Â
"Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women in the U.S. and is especially challenging in the South, where late-stage diagnoses are more frequent," said the press release. "Free and low-cost screening is available through the Alabama Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program and the Joy to Life Foundation, which bring mammograms and care to women across the state."
To get more information or to schedule a screening, call 1-877-252-3324.
Gates will open at 7 p.m. at the corner of Water Avenue and Lawrence Street in downtown Selma. The show is free for all and will feature food vendors as well.Â
