A rape and sodomy suspect who was sought by the Sumter County Sheriff's Office has been apprehended in Mississippi, said an update from Central Alabama CrimeStoppers on Tuesday.Â
Harold Green, 40, was wanted for alleged rape in the second degree and sodomy, also in the second degree.Â
According to CrimeStoppers, the United States Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force was requested in March for help in finding Green, who was considered a fugitive.Â
Authorities received an anonymous tip that led them to arresting Green in Kemper County, Mississippi on Monday, May 13. He will be extradited to Sumter County to face charges there.Â
"CrimeStoppers would like to acknowledge the outstanding work ethic of all law enforcement agencies involved in this manhunt," said the group on social media. "The United States Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force went above and beyond to ensure Green was located and placed behind bars."
