Rotary Club of Selma installs ‘Drive carefully’ signs around city

The Rotary Club of Selma is installing 30 “Drive carefully” signs around Selma to encourage drivers to be safe on the community’s busiest streets.

The City Council approved placement of the signs that include the Rotary emblem and club name. Each council member is suggesting locations in his or her Ward.

Rotary received a $4,000 grant to pay for the signs that were made by ScreenCo in Selma.

So far, half the signs have been installed, with all 30 to be completed by mid April, according to Rotary treasurer Manera Searcy. The locations have to be marked and a work ticket submitted for approval and utility line clearance.

The goal is to target high-traffic areas, especially those with children.
