The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is investigating after a shooting involving officers with the USMS Gulf Coast Regional Task Force (GCRTF) took place in Pine Hill.
According to a statement from ALEA officers from the USMS GCRTF executed a search warrant at a house on the 100 Block of Ruby Drive in Pine Hill where a man was wanted for murder.
When they arrived an officer was wounded by gunfire. Other officers returned fire and killed the suspect, Ernest Christopher Nathan, 47. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officer who was wounded is expected to make a full recovery, said the statement.
No other details were made available as the investigation is ongoing.
