Faith-based group The Ordinary People Society (TOPS) will hold a screening in Selma for a documentary about inmates in the Alabama Department of Correction titled "The Alabama Solution" on Oct. 12.
The film was directed by Andrew Jarecki and produced by Charlotte Kaufman.
“This documentary sheds light on systemic issues that our communities and families have long endured in silence,” said a press release from TOPS. “By hosting this screening, we are creating space for truth-telling and dialogue, which are essential steps toward lasting reform and justice in Alabama.”
The screening is free and attendees will be provided with a complimentary soul food dinner afterwards.
Screenings will be held in other cities, including Montgomery, in the near future.
The Selma screening will be held at the George P. Evans Reception Hall on 2 Lawrence Street at 1 p.m.
