A second newborn infant was surrendered at a Safe Haven Baby Box housed at Montgomery Fire Station 10, said an announcement from Montgomery Fire & Rescue (MFR).Â
Safe Haven Baby Boxes allow mothers unable to keep their newborns to anonymously surrender them at fire stations. Alerts sound off whenever a baby is surrendered.Â
The announcement stated that fire fighters found a healthy boy who was only hours old when he was placed in the box.Â
"We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the parent who made the courageous decision to ensure their child’s safety by trusting us with him," said MFR's announcement. "That choice reflects tremendous love and bravery."
The baby received medical care and was transported to Baptist South for an evaluation and follow‑up.Â
