Selma AIR will join other organizations for the She Looks Like Me Black Women’s Wellness and Empowerment Summit to be held on March 5 during the Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee.Â
St. Paul AME Church of Montgomery’s ‘She Looks Like Me’ initiative, Selma Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Rural Health Medical Program, Legal Services of Alabama, Salute Selma, and the Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation initiative of Selma will be part of the event.Â
"Held in conjunction with the 57th Bridge Crossing Jubilee, the Wellness and Empowerment Summit will act as a gateway to those who are looking for the great food, music, fashion, and cultural activities to be found along Water Avenue," said an announcement from Selma AIR.Â
"Baptist Health and Tuskegee University are presenting sponsors, helping to produce the 2022 Summit featuring an unheard-of collection of health, wealth, and justice related resources."
This event will feature health-related services such as free health screenings, information, and resources.Â
Organizations participating in the wellness portion are: Alabama Department of Public Health’s Well Woman initiative, the Alabama Housing Finance Authority, the Alabama Coalition Against Rape, Hope Credit Union, Selma City Schools, Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority, and the Selma Center for Nonviolence.
There will also be two expert panels and a fashion show featuring boutiques from across the state.Â
The event is free and open to the public.Â
