The Selma AmeriCorps is celebrating after 14 of its members completed a skid steer training and certification program.

"Seeing the pride in their eyes and the joy in their smiles after accomplishing something that they can carry with them into their future was powerful," said a message from the City of Selma on social media. "This represents more than a certification, more than a program, more than a grant — it represents confidence gained, doors opened, and a renewed belief in what’s possible."

The training and certification was held by a partnership with Wallace Community College Selma as part of the Alabama Community College System Innovation Center.

"This certification strengthens our members’ pre-apprenticeship pathway and supports our program’s commitment to advancing Economic Opportunity through workforce development and housing stabilization," said a message from Selma AmeriCorps.

"By gaining industry recognized skills and hands-on training, members are building the experience needed to pursue careers in construction, infrastructure, and community development while serving their community."
