Selma Fire Department fought a house fire on Selma Avenue for more than three hours on Monday.
Fire officials on the scene said the house at 717 Selma Ave. is abandoned and no one was inside at the time of the fire or injured in the fire.
Firefighters along with three trucks responded to the call about the two-story house being on fire around 7:30 a.m. Fire inspectors were on the scene as the fire was being put out but had not determined the cause as of press time.
Neighbors told the Selma Sun that homeless people often stay at the empty home that is divided into four apartments and has been used as rental property in the past. The house is next door to the Gilmore Law Office and an apartment complex used by Cahaba Mental Health Center.
The Selma Sun will update this story when more information is made available.
