Selma, Montgomery restaurants included in BBC article on eateries in the Civil Rights Movement

Lannie's Bar-B-Q Spot in Selma reopened on June 7 after being rebuilt from tornado damage in 2023.

Restaurants in Selma and Montgomery were highlighted among others that helped protestors during the Civil Rights Movement in an article by the BBC. 

Lannie's BBQ Spot in Selma was mentioned as a restaurant that first opened in the 1940s and fed protestors later in the 1960s when it became a place for them to gather. 

Brenda's Bar-B-Q Pit in Montgomery was included as an eatery where organizers of the bus boycott met and created leaflets. Additionally, its owner, Jereline Bethune, held classes there to help black residents to pass literacy tests required for voting.
