Selma police are warning the public about texts from scammers that attempt to collect money for false DMV violations.Â
Texts claim that the victim's driver's license will be suspended or that there is an outstanding traffic ticket. Payments are requested via links.Â
Police urge anyone who receives such messages to not click on links or provide any kind of personal information.Â
The public is also advised to know that officials will never request payments via email or text.Â
