Selma's Weed and Seed program looks to the future

US Attorney Richard Moore announced his retirement while flanked by law enforcement leaders heading up Selma's Weed and Seed efforts, including Executive Director Maggie Drake-Peterson, Selma-based prosecutor Andy Arrington, interim US Attorney Donna Dobbins, District Attorney Michael Jackson, Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum and Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford.

Selma’s Weed and Seed program is at a crossroads.

The U.S. Attorney who started the crime-cutting community effort in 2017, Richard Moore, announced his retirement in a press conference at Selma’s Federal Courthouse last week.

He introduced his interim successor, who is a veteran prosecutor, and the Selma attorney who will work out of a soon-to-reopen Selma office in the Federal Courthouse building that is being renovated for offices and hearings with a goal of completion by the end of summer.
