The Selma Housing Authority (SHA) and the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) Breast and Cervical Cancer program will host a free screening and educational event on Sept. 19.

The event is titled "Holding Your Hand Every Step of the Way" and will offer free mammogram/Pap/HPV co-testing with yearly follow-ups, as well as further testing and cancer treatment for those who need it.

Anyone who is 40 to 64 and has no insurance and a low income may qualify for the Alabama Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program.

The event will be held at SHA' George Washington Carver Community Center at 10 a.m.
