This year the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods in Indiana is celebrating the jubilee of one of their own who ministered in Selma from 1991 to 2001. 

Born in New Albany, Sister Joann Quinkert, formerly Sister Joan Margaret, currently ministers in the clinical care office at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods and is a volunteer at the Federal Prison in Terre Haute.

This year marks 75 years of her service in the congregation. She entered in 1949 and took final vows in 1956. 

In Selma she ministered in rural pastoral ministry for Edmundite Southern

Missions from 1991 to1992 and was the director of Catholic Social Ministry from 1992-2001.

Additionally, she has ministered in Indiana, North Carolina, Iowa, Kentucky and Illinois.
