Spire is warning its customers about a phone scam by people claiming to be representatives to request payments.Â
"We'd like to remind you to please be cautious of suspicious calls or emails claiming to be from Spire," said a post on Spire's Facebook page. "When in doubt, you can always hang up and give us a call."
Spire advises its customers to consider the following tips:Â
Representatives will not show up unannounced unless it's an emergency.Â
Be aware of suspicious calls or emails from those claiming to be Spire employees.
Requests will not be made in person or by email.Â
Spire employees always wear uniforms and are issued badges
If in doubt, ask for a photo ID or badge.
Spire stresses that customers do not have to give their personal information by phone, email or in person if they are uncomfortable.Â
