Study finds Black Belt counties among highest to receive tax refunds

A study by smartasset.com has found that several Black Belt counties are among the highest in tax refunds in Alabama. 

"To determine the counties that received the highest average tax refunds in Alabama, the study divided the total amount of money refunded to residents by the number of refunds given out in each county," said an email from smartasset.com.

1. Greene County 

Taxpayers that receive refunds: 3,060

Average tax refunded: $3,550

Taxpayers that owe: 430

Average tax owed: $3,333

Taxpayers that receive refunds: 3,820

Average tax refunded: $3,472
