The last day of the 2021-2022 school year took on a special meaning for one Payne Elementary School teacher. Lynn Godwin Bender has moved to the next chapter of her life, retiring after 40 years.
“It may be time to move on to something else, but I will not ever close this out,” Bender said. “It will always be a part of me.”
Bender was born and raised in the town of Polk between Tyler and Sardis. Growing up she had teachers that inspired her. “I always wanted to be a teacher when I was a little girl,” Bender said.
