The Town of Gordonville in Lowndes County has received a $134,000 to build its first storm shelter.Â
According to WAKA, the town has been waiting for one for three years. Funding comes from Project Red Clay.Â
Mayor Orbuty Ross Ozier stated that previously citizens would stay with other citizens during storms and that the new shelter will provide a sense of security.Â
It will be located behind Gordonville Town Hall near a grove on Trone Road.Â
