The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) has awarded accreditation to Troy University for the educator preparation programs in the College of Education.
“Troy University continues to be recognized as a leader in teacher education,” said Dr. Fred Figliano, Dean of the College of Education. “This accreditation reflects the outstanding efforts and dedication of our faculty. I want to thank Drs. Joe Johnson, Tonya Conner, and Shirley Farrell for their leadership in making this possible.”
A statement from the university said that it is one of 35 providers from 22 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico to receive the accreditation from the Spring 2024 review by CAEP.
“This accreditation is the result of tremendous collaboration between Troy faculty and staff, our students, our graduates, and our K-12 school system partners,” said Dr. Joe Johnson, Chair of the Department of Teacher Education. “We appreciate everyone who participated in and contributed to the process, and we are proud that these efforts produced a very positive outcome from our intensive accreditation review.”
The process is said to be rigorous and Troy was accredited at the Advanced and Initial-Licensure levels.
“These institutions meet high standards so that their students receive an education that prepares them to succeed in a diverse range of classrooms after they graduate,” said CAEP President Dr. Christopher A. Koch. “Seeking CAEP Accreditation is a significant commitment on the part of an educator preparation provider.”
