Teams from the National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado touched down in Marengo and Wilcox counties on Sunday, March 26.

The tornado touched down in eastern Marengo County and headed east/southeast through a wooded area. It reached Highway 5 and caused damage to trees in its path.

The tornado downed several power lines before possibly continuing further east. Weather teams were unsure how much farther it went due to not being able to assess the heavily wooded areas.

The tornado was rated an EF1 and its peak wind was estimated to be 90 mph.
