Xtremebass Challenge popularity grows in Alabama

Chad and Chase Schroeder of Coatopa win first place and Anglers of the Year at the Xtremebass Championship. Tournament Director John McAlpine presents a check for part of their $26,000 in cash and prizes.

The Xtremebass Challenge is one of the youngest bass tournaments in the state, but it is fast becoming one of the most popular.

Despite the threat of bad weather, 49 boats launched at Bridgeport Landing in Camden on June 18 and 19.

The anglers in the championship tournament previously competed in one of the three Xtremebass divisions. And some of the anglers are from other states.

“The tournament was great,” Tournament Director John McAlpine said. “In my book, it was a 100% success.”
