Selma Art Guild member Rebecca Carr of Enterprise is the SAG featured artist for April and May.
The reception is set for Sunday, April 21 from 2-4 p.m. at the SAG gallery located at 508 Selma Ave. The show will hang through May 30. And the gallery will be open Saturdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. or by appointment.
For many years, Carr crafted stained-glass windows in her own home. But she said her true artistic journey began in 2014 with a pencil set that was a gift to her from her daughter. And with no formal training, she sought online training and enrolled in drawing classes by master artist Darrel Tank. And gradually, she moved on to other media such as colored pencil, watercolor and pastels.
In 2019, Carr learned to use the airbrush under the instruction of world-renowned airbrush artist Dru Blair at the School of Realism in South Carolina. And after several of Blair’s workshops, she began to produce fine art acrylic portraits and wildlife pieces with exceptional realistic qualities.
In addition to fine art, Carr does custom airbrush artwork on motorcycles, helmets, skateboards and other hard surfaces. She also accepts some commissions. Her work can be found on Instagram and Facebook under Glass2Graphite Art.
In the 2023 SAG Summer Juried Art Exhibition, Carr won second place in 3D for her work “Sidewalk Surfer.”
The Selma Art Guild was founded in 1972 to promote art and encourage artists.
